Week 6 of the College Football season has arrived.
Below is your weekly preview of the 5 biggest games….
#12 Oklahoma (5-0) vs #3 Texas (5-0) 12:00 PM EST:
This is being billed as the biggest Red River Rivalry game in years and you can see why.
Both teams come in with a perfect 5-0 record, and are looking to use this win to catapult the rest of the season.
For Texas, they already have a win over Alabama, so a win over Oklahoma would only boost their CFP hopes.
For Oklahoma, they are looking to slay last years demons when they lost 49-0 to the Longhorns.
The key in this one will be which quarterback can be more effective.
Both the Sooners and Longhorns have good defenses (not something you could always say about these two teams) so the battle between Dillon Gabriel and Quinn Ewers.
The Longhorns are a -5.5 favorite so oddsmakers think Texas has the edge in this one.
#20 Kentucky (5-0) @ #1 Georgia (5-0) 7:00 PM EST:
Will the real Georgia stand up please?
They are yet to play a complete game this season, and yet they are 5-0.
The Dawgs have been able to come out on top in each of their games through sheer skill.
Tonight’s game will require a bit more than that.
Kentucky does not have the depth of the Bulldogs, but they certainly have skill across the field.
As with most SEC games this game will come down to the line of scrimmage.
Can Kentucky hold their own against a Bulldog front which is really good, BUT not as good as prior years?
There is at least some encouragement the Cats can hold their own – every time they play Georgia it is a close physical game.
But the Cats are looking to go from a tough team to a feared team….
Besides the line of scrimmage Kentucky will have to hope Devin Leary can play his best game as a Wildcat (which is somewhat of a low bar so far).
Georgia are currently -14.5 favorites so let’s see how this one goes.
#11 Alabama (4-1) @ Texas A&M (4-1) 3:30 PM EST:
This matchup usually is a close game, and usually a good game.
With Alabama only being a -2 favorite it looks like we are in store for another great one.
Both teams certainly have the talent to have some highlight reel plays.
Alabama is lead by a tough defense and an inconsistent but athletic quarterback in Jalen Milroe.
Texas A&M has had a high powered offense, which has continued to play well despite the loss of starting quarterback Conner Weigman.
In his place is Max Johnson, the former LSU quarterback who has played very well so far.
For the Aggies to pull off the upset they are going to need Johnson to have a career game.
They will also have to match the Tide’s physicality.
Do that, and the Aggies can win this thing.
#10 Notre Dame (5-1) @ #25 Louisville (5-0) 7:30 PM:
The Irish come in on the back of a win vs Duke….
That was a great show of mental strength for Notre Dame – they had lost to Ohio State a week earlier.
Now the Irish will look to propel the rest of their season starting with another win tonight.
In their way is a Louisville team that is 5-0 but has not played anyone of note up to this point.
Furthermore, the Cardinals have been very erratic – some weeks they score 50 points, other weeks they score less than 17.
Tonight will likely be more of the latter – Notre Dame has a very strong defense and the Irish control the ball on offense.
Currently the Cardinals are +6.5 underdogs so it’s going to be a battle.
#23 LSU (3-2) @ #21 Missouri (5-0) 12:00 PM EST:
It is due or die time for the Tigers (sorry let me specify).
The LSU Tigers.
They are 3-2 and VERY likely to be out of the playoff picture.
So if LSU wants any chance of salvaging their season it will have to start with a win today.
In their way is a surprise Missouri team who is 5-0.
Mizzou is playing efficient football on offense, and lead by Brady Cook at quarterback.
LSU has Jayden Daniels, who is putting up absurd numbers.
If Missouri can slow Daniels down (or keep the ball away from him) then things could go poorly for LSU.
LSU’s main goal HAS to be defense.
The defense has been POOR through the first half of the season, and will have to improve if they want any chance of winning.
That said, LSU is currently a -5.5 favorite so people are expecting an LSU win.
