CFB Week 6 Review

October 9, 2023 Articles Comments Off on CFB Week 6 Review

Week 6 felt like a statement week across College Football.

Let’s review the biggest games from the weekend…..

#12 Oklahoma 34 vs #3 Texas 30:

So, Oklahoma to the Playoff?

They certainly played like it on Saturday.

The offense played well, but the defense stole the show.

For years the Sooners had elite offense but terrible defense (looking at you Lincoln Riley).

Now Oklahoma can genuinely say they have a good offense AND a good defense.

The result was a wild win vs Texas which showed that both teams are legit.

Even though the loss will sting for Longhorns fans – there is no need to panic.

If Texas wins out from here they are likely going to make the CFP.

Of course, the same is true of Oklahoma.

That will make the inevitable rematch in the Big 12 Championship that much more exciting.

#20 Kentucky 13 @ #1 Georgia 51:

The saying “don’t poke the bear” definitely applies here.

The Bulldogs are not going anywhere in terms of their dominance.

They finally showed up for a game on Saturday night and completely dominated.

It is an ominous sign for the rest of the country….

As I have mentioned in prior articles – Georgia has an ability to win while playing on cruise control.

Saturday, Georgia went full blast and the result was a full blown beatdown.

For Kentucky it is another sign of the sheer gap between the have’s and have nots in college football.

The Cats will look to rebound and attempt to become the best of the rest in the SEC East moving forward.

#10 Notre Dame 20 @ #25 Louisville 33:

This was definitely a game that surprised me.

I did not think Louisville would have their way with Notre Dame, but that is what happened…..

Louisville blew things open in the second half and the Irish had no answers.

The win has catapulted the Cardinals up the rankings, and MAYBE gives them an outside chance at the playoff?!?!?

It has been quite the turnaround for Louisville in year one under Jeff Brohm.

They have definitely benefited from an easy schedule, but beating the Irish is a statement win for the program.

On the Notre Dame side, they are now out of the playoff picture and have to rebound from this game with a date against USC.

If only Notre Dame had beaten Ohio State when they had the chance…..

#11 Alabama 26 @ Texas A&M 20:

The Tide keep winning (and rolling kind of).

In a tough environment against a good Aggies team Jalen Milroe stepped up for Alabama – BIG TIME.

He threw for 321 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Don’t look now, but maybe Alabama can play it’s way into the playoff.

They keep winning, and are starting to figure things out.

For Texas A&M, it was another missed opportunity.

They have the talent to be competing in the upper tiers of the SEC, but for one reason or another they seem to fail year after year.

#23 LSU 49 @ #21 Missouri 39

LSU’s offense is fun with Jayden Daniels leading the way, but that defense?

The defense is a disaster.

Winning shootouts week after week is not sustainable, hence why the LSU Tigers already have two losses.

LSU fans will look back on this year similar to Texas A&M fans and think that this was a missed opportunity (with Alabama looking vulnerable).

Meanwhile, Missouri was close, but could not stop LSU enough to win.

It has to be encouraging for Missouri that they are able to score so many points.

If they can put a more complete performance together Mizzou should still be able to cause some noise.

Happy Betting!
