NFL week 7 kicks off tonight with a rare matchup between the Jaguars and Saints.
Below is your preview of tonight’s game.
Jacksonville (4-2) @ New Orleans (3-3) 8:15 PM EST:
Will Trevor Lawrence play?
The biggest question coming in to this one is the availability of the the third year man out of Clemson.
He is currently questionable but it looks like it will be a game time decision.
If Lawrence is out, responsibility would fall on C.J. Beathard, a quarterback who has a 2-10 career record as a starter.
Luckily for the Jags, they do have weapons outside of Lawrence – namely Travis Etienne.
With or without Lawrence, Etienne will be given the ball plenty…..
He has been very effective in recent weeks and will look to keep the hot streak going vs a good Saints defense.
But what about the Saints offense?
It has not quite clicked for the Saints offensively through the first 6 weeks.
They are in the bottom third of the league in offensive yards per game and in points per game.
Really, the New Orleans defense has papered over the offensive cracks.
The hope will be that Derek Carr can finally click with a team, which on paper, has multiple exciting options.
Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and (an older) Michael Thomas form a formidable trio, so you would expect the Saints offense to improve over the rest of the season.
With all that said who comes out on top tonight?
Currently the line is New Orleans -1.5 (it opened at New Orleans +1.5), but with the status of Lawrence far from certain it is tough to say where the line will close.
Regardless of whether Lawrence plays or not, this will be a tough game for the Jags.
The Saints have a tough home environment, and a strong defense to stifle the Jacksonville offense.
The question will be if New Orleans can score some points……
